Underneath the Surface 2014

‘Underneath the Surface’ is an alternative underwater photography exhibition that boldly explores a subtle realm between art and photojournalism. It consists of single angle shots of individuals deprived of air and opulent with fire, with being, with light, with black, with white. It’s a journey sparked by curiosity, flawlessly tuned to detecting individual explosions of energy and the ripples they leave on the surface.

The ripples are numerous, most go unnoticed by the mainstream, muted by stereotypes and omitted by learnt priorities. Their manifestations, however, on human psyche and physique are unmistakable.

Hung at Darb 1718 Contemporary Art and Culture Center, Cairo from 15 November 2014 till 21 February 2015.

Hung at Dahab Asala from 21 August till 21 September 2018
